The Second Rebel & How You Can Get Involved
There’s a lot that goes into making a book successful, and, unfortunately, a lot of it has nothing to do with what I, as the author, can control. I was very lucky that my pandemic book, The First Sister, was received with such love, and I have only my readers to thank. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
Now that The Second Rebel is coming out, I have a request: I’m asking you, my readers, for help in marketing the book. If you have a podcast, a YouTube channel, a book blog, or have a friend who does, let me know in the comments below or through the contact form on my website.
In an interview, I can talk about:
The series of The First Sister and the craft of writing, both of single books and trilogies
The real-world events that influenced my writing, such as the #MeToo movement and the ongoing fight for trans rights
My experiences as a cosplayer and a larper that gave me insight into character development, as well as the comics, video games, anime, and other books that inspired me throughout my life
And of course, we can talk about The Second Rebel itself:
Red Rising meets The Handmaid’s Tale in Linden A. Lewis’s second installment in The First Sister Trilogy: THE SECOND REBEL (Skybound Books; Hardcover; On Sale: 8/24/21). They took the SFF world by storm with their debut novel The First Sister, that NPR called, “a lot of fun, as stylish as it is substantial.” THE SECOND REBEL picks up where The First Sister left off. Astrid has reclaimed her name and her voice and now seeks to bring down the Sisterhood from within, but the politics of Mars is far deadlier than she ever expected. On an outlaw colony station deep in space, Hiro val Akira hunts for a dangerous digital woman, but they aren't the only person looking for this link to the mysterious race of Synthetics. While continuing to grow into his role as revolutionary, Lito sol Lucious is tasked with rescuing an Aster operative from deep within an Icarii prison in order to keep dangerous secrets out of enemy hands. And back on Venus, Lito’s sister Lucinia must carry on after her brother’s disappearance despite being under the thumb of Souji val Akira, only to be pulled into the fight when an Aster rebel shows up with news about her brother’s fate.
Featuring a cast of diverse characters, The Second Rebel holds a mirror to modern society in a way only Lewis can. You will not be able to put this captivating, spellbinding novel down. It’s a summer must-read for science fiction fans everywhere.
